Naturalista's Rock - Thank You Curly Nikki!

I was in awe from the moment I stepped into the door at The NYC Curly Nikki meet-up!

Naturalista's EVERYWHERE! Rocking FIERCE DO'S!!! OMG...whiplash...

And then in hushed whispers I could hear ladies asking where is Nikki? Has anyone seen Nikki?

Finally I spotted her, center stage and holding court, smiling from ear to ear and let me tell you that head of hair DID NOT disappoint! She is stunning.

I attended the event with lovely songstress Alex Young whose own 'do' two ponytails pinned up was simply GORG. And caught up with some of my fellow naturalista's: Shelli of Hairscapades, Michelle of Radiant Brown Beauty, Rece of A Hair Story, Miche'al, Shana, & Arlinda of Sofistafunk.

The event was sponsored by Mizani USA whose True Textures line caters to naturalista's. I spotted the goodie bags and was beyond excited...hmm #fail. A HUGE brochure and two tiny samples. Not sure if you have seen my head of hair but those samples would work on maybe an eighth. But hey they get a A for effort. They had Mizani consultants giving product and styling tutorials and overall it was informative.

I had a wonderful time, I enjoyed the company of so many warm Naturalista's, and got to meet one of my biggest hair crushes...Nikki you rock!

FNO'ing in NYC

It was 6PM and I was wrapping up my day...my stomach was filled with butterflies...you know the kind you get before that first date with that REALLY cute boy who you REALLY like?!

It was my first Fashion Night Out!!!

I was a virgin and I was prepared to lose my FNO virginity that hot, muggy, cloudy night.

I was set to hang with my crew. We'd contemplated canceling all day long, when I left the house it was pouring, and had been pouring for 2 days. Who wants to walk around nyc and shop in the pouring rain? Ummm yea not so much. But as the weather cleared we decided we would forge ahead. We were set to rendezvous in Tribeca at the oh so sexy Tribeca Grand Hotel and go from there.

First Up Tracy Reese.

As we entered the door we were greeted with a glass of wine...great way to start the party with a nice cold adult beverage. Note to self, make sure Tracy Reese is on the itinerary next year. DJ Tyger Lily a hot female DJ was spinning in the front of the store, if you don't know who she is be sure to check her out AND they were inviting guests to dance in the store windows. Sorry no pics of that...that would be considered incriminating evidence ;-).

Next on our itinerary Alexander Wang and Vivienne Tam. Both cool but NOTHING compared to Tracy Reese.

Next we prepared to hit the highlight of the eve...The ShopBop Lounge where my client Alex Young was scheduled to be interviewed by famed fashion journalist Louise Roe. The tent was right in the middle of the Street on 13th & 9th, Alex did an amazing job. She is so poised and elegant oh and did I mention she did it all while walking in 6" heels...yea I know.

The party continued for a bit we stopped at the Pop Chips Carnival on 14th St, had Tacos at The Gap Taco Truck AND got $20 off gift certificates, Stopped by DVF, and then went to go have a real meal at Merchants NYC.

So next time:

1. I will wear ballet flats or sneakers. Don't ask...

2. I will build my itinerary so I can move around on foot, trying to drive was a gridlock nightmare.

3. I will set a budget in advance.

4. I will make plans with my 'crew'...we had a ball!

Fashion Friday: Behind The Scenes w/Alex Young on her way to Kim Kardashian's Welcome to NY Party!

Welcome to the first edition of Fashion Friday's...the column dedicated to all things girly, glam, & fabUUUlous!

This week the lovely pop princess Alex Young was invited to attend "The Night of Style & Glamour" Party which was thrown for newlyweds Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries to welcome them to NY. Shut the front door! I KNOW!!!!

What is a pop princess to do? Umm call in the ultimate glam squad...oh and did I mention with less than 48 hours notice?!

It's ok I have a magic wand :-).

As soon as I got the call...yes me Etoile (in addition to being the maven of all things curvy, I am the maven of all things imaging, branding, & marketing) I made one call to Arlinda M. of Sofistafunk who works as Alex's stylist, designer and image consultant. We discussed the details of the event and how we wanted her to have a jaw dropping look and proceeded to get to work.

Alex wore an elegant but sexy aqua blue silk dress with a deep plunging neckline, a high split on the right side and a charcoal grey cummerbund tie belt. Her make-up was a funky aqua and plum smokey eye, bronzer and a nude lip.

Her look was described as 'resplendent' as she walked the red carpet.

And did you see THE SHOES?! Valentino...#imjustsayin
