BlueDini: 7 Days of Fabulous, Fashionable Beauty Tips!

On the Second Day of Fashion...

Always apply a primer before putting on your foundation. Primer smooths out the texture of your skin and helps keep the makeup out of your pores. This makes a fabulous, flawless skin finish!

Curvespiration: Celebrity Photographer Rowena Husbands

Late last year I was introduced to celebrity photographer Rowena Husbands, it was love at first site...Rowena is one of the most down to earth people that I have ever met and also an absolute sweetheart. I hope you enjoy this peek into her world.

Until Next Time,

Etoile

When did you 'love affair' with photography begin?
I worked for Canon USA after my daughter was born and I had borrowed some camera equipment to take pictures of her. In 1993 when she was about 3 yrs old I took her to a well known celebrity photographer to have her modeling photos done... and after seeing his photos I said to myself “I can do this” and I started taking her pictures myself.

How long have you been working as a photographer?
I have been working as a photographer for about 17 years.

At what point did you realize that photography was not only something that you liked to do but something that you were passionate about?
When I was told by famed photographer Daniel Perry and choreographer Robin Dunn that I had such confidence and a great eye for photography; that is when it became a passion for me and not just a hobby.

What was your entree into the world of celebrity photography?
My entry in to the world of celebrity photography was when my friend Choreographer Robin Dunn introduced me to Mona Scott-Young who at the time managed the careers of Busta, Missy Elliott, Q Tip, Foxy Brown, LL, and Allure. Mona Scott-Young gave me the first opportunity to photograph her girl group Allure's album release party, and then by word of mouth I started getting calls from other people in the industry to shoot events, and the rest is “Herstory” which is the way I like to refer to my story.

What has been your career high-light to date?
When I was hired by publicist Gwendolyn Quinn, to shoot the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin at BB Kings…I still have a copy of the check she gave me...

Who are a few people that you photographed that you just could not believe that you had the opportunity to photograph?
Susan Lucci, Tandi Newton, Alicia Keys , Michael Bolton…there are far to many to name...

What projects are you working on now?
I am currently working as the official ‘on-set’ photographer for VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop” Season 2.

Who are some of your clients that you work with on a regular basis?
Missy Elliott, Actor Jamie Hector, and I am also the official photographer for New York Women in Film & TV.

What are your goals and aspirations?
My goals & Aspirations are to be the best person and photographer that I can be, I am constantly challenging myself in my craft. I also plan on beginning a mentoring program for young women who are interested in being a photographer

Where can we expect to see Rowena in the future?
You can expect to see me on the big screen in the near future...

BlueDini: Transitioning your makeup from summer to fall is as easy as 1, 2, 3...

1. Foundation:
Try a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation for fall. Since your tan is fading, you may find yourself in between foundation shades. Tinted moisturizer provides light coverage and will likely match your skin tone as you transition from your bronzy beach babe hue to a more fair complexion.

2. Lips:
As the weather cools down, you may want to try deeper lip hues. Instead of buying a bunch of new lipsticks, try lip liners in darker berry shades. That way, you can use the liners to darken up your favorite summer lipsticks. You will fall in line with the latest trends as well as save money.

3. Eyes:
Want to try new eyeshadow colors but don't want to spend a ton of money? Well stop by your nearest MAC Cosmetics store this fall to pick up the pre-made eye shadow palettes. These palettes are actually what started my love affair with MAC back in 2006. They typically consist of six shadow colors and retail for about $36 (over $30 savings) and they take the guess work out of choosing the latest shades that look good together..

Hopefully you will find these handy tips helpful. Feel free to include your own fall makeup transition tips in the comments section.

Have a BEAUTY-ful fall!

Fashion Friday: Behind The Scenes w/Alex Young on her way to Kim Kardashian's Welcome to NY Party!

Welcome to the first edition of Fashion Friday's...the column dedicated to all things girly, glam, & fabUUUlous!

This week the lovely pop princess Alex Young was invited to attend "The Night of Style & Glamour" Party which was thrown for newlyweds Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries to welcome them to NY. Shut the front door! I KNOW!!!!

What is a pop princess to do? Umm call in the ultimate glam squad...oh and did I mention with less than 48 hours notice?!

It's ok I have a magic wand :-).

As soon as I got the call...yes me Etoile (in addition to being the maven of all things curvy, I am the maven of all things imaging, branding, & marketing) I made one call to Arlinda M. of Sofistafunk who works as Alex's stylist, designer and image consultant. We discussed the details of the event and how we wanted her to have a jaw dropping look and proceeded to get to work.

Alex wore an elegant but sexy aqua blue silk dress with a deep plunging neckline, a high split on the right side and a charcoal grey cummerbund tie belt. Her make-up was a funky aqua and plum smokey eye, bronzer and a nude lip.

Her look was described as 'resplendent' as she walked the red carpet.

And did you see THE SHOES?! Valentino...#imjustsayin
